Bama Bully Rescue
I got started in rescue about five years ago. When I met my boyfriend, he had a bully breed dog, and she was the sweetest puppy ever. Our family’s Labradoodle passed away, and I started following Bama Bully Rescue on Facebook. When I saw a puppy named Elvis, I was drawn to him, and I had to adopt him! And I did! That was four years ago.
Once I had adopted Elvis, I started volunteering for BBR – working events and so on. I’ve been on the board of directors for about two years now. My favorite part of rescue is going to the shelters, visiting all the dogs, and taking them on Freedom Rides – breaking them out of the shelter. That makes me happier than almost anything else in the world.
When I was growing up, my Mom didn’t want a dog. She was convinced that she would end up taking care of it, and she had more than enough to worry about without a dog to care for. Since I’ve become involved with BBR, I’ve talked her into becoming a foster mom, and she recently adopted her very own pit bull! Even though my family thinks I’m crazy, and they have to keep me from bringing home every dog in every shelter in Alabama, they are as love with this breed as I am.
