SUGAR

This sweet little girl is Sugar!   A little hint about how she got her name...she LOVES to give kisses!!   Pretty awesome for a girl who didn't have much of a life until a wonderful family stepped in and saved her.   You see Sugar was found tied up to a bicycle and hanging from a fence that she tried to jump...essentially she would have hung herself had these wonderful people not stepped in.   Sugar however has not had a problem adapting to her new life of toys, love, and a warm bed.

Sugar would do best in an active home as she is a young girl.   She would do well in a home that has older children, as she is so active she may accidentally knock a little one down!   Her current foster family is working on basic obedience such as 'Sit' and walking on a leash.   Her new home should continue to work on these with her as she is a smart girl and quite motivated to please (or at least get attention!).

Sugar has been introduced to new dogs, but it would be best if she was to meet her new potential doggie brother or sister before going into the new home.   She is usually excited to meet new dogs and has done fine with some of them that she has met.   She has never met a cat, but we are still learning new things about her all the time as she develops in her new home.  

Due to the previous neglect in care she received from her previous owners, Sugar was found to be heartworm positive.   She is available for adoption, but will not be able to go into her new home until treatment is over.   She is now up to date on her vaccinations and spayed as well.   If Sugar is the love-bug that your family has been looking for, please go ahead and put in your application for her today.

*****UPDATE FROM FOSTER 8/10/08*****

She is doing great!   We have just learned that she plays very well with small dogs.   A little dog that wasn't even 10 pounds ran all over the yard with her.   Sugar was precious!   She even laid on her back and that little dog climbed all over her.   She didn't play too rough or anything with her.   It was so sweet.

Having said that, we met up with another girl today and she brought her two dogs one female, one male.   She and the male just sniffed each other but the female growled & barked at her. Sugar somewhat reacted to this, as would be expected, but would have otherwise been content. Sugar has quickly become a part of her foster family, the other dogs have accepted her and they are doing well together!
