Cole's Story:
Cole is a four-five year old male Bulldog mix that was found and
brought to us by an animal loving couple horrified at what they had
found. Cole is an extreme example of how bad an imbedded collar can be.
This very sweet dog wagged his tail the entire time as a nylon collar
was cut out of his neck. When he was later sedated so the wound could
be cleaned more thoroughly by a veterinarian, we could see that this
collar had cut completely down to his jugular vein.
The pictures of this wound are not for the faint of heart as Cole
almost looks decapitated and you can see his jugular vein quite clearly.
We held our breath for a few days to make sure he could make it, but
this tough little guy rallied and has healed wonderfully. Besides the
terrible neck wound, Cole also bears other scars showing a previous
lifetime of pain and misery!
Cole is one of those happy boys whose entire body wiggles and who will
beat you silly with his tail. But this short guy is as solid as he can
be and needs a home that is up for his energy and strength.
Cole absolutely loves everyone, but can be aggressive with other dogs
and does really want to go after cats so will be best in a home where
he is the only pet.
As we feel that Cole lived his previous life on a chain, a good fence
is a requirement and he stays in a fence just fine. He is a fiend at
playing with toys and balls all by himself, but don't expect him to
retrieve.
Cole can be the proverbial bull in a china shop and sometimes does not
realize his own strength, so while he loves children, it would be best
for him to not go to a home with small children.
We know that there is a perfect home out there for Cole. But we need
any potential adopter to understand that we will put you through the
proverbial ringer to make sure that Cole has a future full of love and
security and never knows pain again.
Cole is neutered, around 60 lbs, heartworm negative and current on all
of his vaccinations. His adoption fee from our shelter is $95 and you
must be willing to work with us on a home check, vet reference, etc.
Are you Cole's new family?
